Q visas are for participants of a designated international cultural exchange program who will be providing training, employment, or will be sharing or educating in a historical or cultural field relating to their home country. The Q visas can be for up to 15 months but cannot be renewed. In order for the visitor to obtain a Q visa again, he or she must have left the United States for at least a year before he or she can enter the United States with another Q visa. Employees or administrators of the designated international cultural exchange program must always petition for the qualifying non-immigrant visitor. The visitor must be 18 years or older and must be able to demonstrate, educate, or consult concerning the unique practical, cultural, or historic field.
